The RaqsBand formed 2003 to work towards providing dancers with dancer-friendly live music they WANT to dance to! Directed by internationally known dancer, Saqra (Seattle, WA), RaqsBand features classic dance music specifically for bellydance. Modern and classic Egyptian, Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Persian all are represented in this exotic mix. RaqsBand is founded in the belief that the dancer comes first. The band includes Saqra (Oriental quarter tone keyboard, harmonium, keyboard dulcimer, and vocals); David Metz on power dumbek and general percussion and Jeff Raybuck on Mizmar, Tar, Riq and the mighty cowbell and has 3 recordings available and one more on the way!
